Free-of-charge or with 50 per cent contribution
There are two levels of financing legal. If your income and assets do not exceed the first level of financing, you will receive a lawyer free of charge; if they do not exceed the second level of financing, 50 per cent of the costs will be reimbursed by the state.
How is it assessed?
In order to get a state-financed lawyer, contact the state-guaranteed legal aid service assigned to the municipality and submit an application, which may be filled out with the assistance of a specialist of primary legal aid.
If your income and assets exceed the levels set by the Government, your infringed or disputed rights may be defended by a private lawyer. Contact details of the lawyers registered in Lithuania are available on the website www.advoco.lt.
|N.B. In the event your assets and income are defined as the first level of assets and income (or you receive secondary legal aid irrespective of the assets and income you possess), and you have already been provided with secondary legal aid in two cases, the state will reimburse 50 % of the secondary legal aid costs in other cases. In the event your assets and income are defined as the second level of assets and income, and you have already been provided with legal aid in more than two cases, the state will reimburse 25 % of the secondary legal aid costs in other cases.|
